Nikoloz Khatiashvili, researcher and international secretary of the Geocase think tank, is participating in the Global Security Forum, which is taking place in Doha, Qatar. Within the framework of the forum, Nikoloz Khatiashvili held meetings with representatives of the US State Department and the White House, who are working on the issues of Georgia and the Black Sea region. During the meetings, the parties discussed the security issues of the Black Sea, the ongoing war in Ukraine and Russian aggression, the problematic situation in the occupied territories of Georgia, the threats from Russia and the challenges facing the country. Particular attention was paid to the future Black Sea strategy of the United States and the importance of properly representing Georgia in it.
 

"The main topic of the conversation with our main strategic partners was the ongoing processes in the Black Sea region and the importance of Georgia in the process of promoting peace and stability in the region. We discussed the future Black Sea strategy of the US and the importance of Georgia's position in it. In light of the ongoing war in Ukraine and the formation of a new geopolitical reality, the US is showing increasing interest in the Black Sea regions and the South Caucasus, which, I think, will have respective tangible results for our country in the future. It is important that the American colleagues reaffirmed their support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity and noted that they will continue to stand by Georgia and support in defense, security, sustainable development, democracy and other fields" - Nikoloz Khatiashvili said.
 

This year, the forum focuses on such global challenges as energy security, the ongoing war in Ukraine, the containment of Russia, and the Middle Corridor as a new opportunity to create new energy and transit corridors between the Persian Gulf, the Middle East, and Europe. It should be noted that this year is the first precedent when the representative of Georgia officially participates in the mentioned forum.
