Geocase has Organized a Meeting With the Former Deputy Director of the Romanian Intelligence Service, Lieutenant-General (R), Dr Florian Coldea

Geocase, within the framework of the GEO Intel Project, has organised a meeting with the former Deputy Director of the Romanian Intelligence Service, Lieutenant-General (R), Dr Florian Coldea.


Georgian Strategic Analysis Center (GSAC), a partner organization of Geocase, hosted the event which was attended by the students of the Geocase training course – “Foreign Policy and Security”, the analysts from Geocase and GSAC.


Victor Kipiani, Chairman of Geocase moderated the discussions. 


Dr Florian Coldea had held the position of the Deputy Director of the Romanian Intelligence Service for twelve years. He has acquired extensive experience in tactical and strategic expertise in counter-intelligence, counter-terrorism, economic and trans-border crime. Dr Florian Coldea is pursuing an academic career in the most prestigious civil and military universities in Romania and shares his experience with new generations of intelligence officers. 


During his presentation, Dr Coldea spoke about security as one of the key factors for any country’s steady development and stability and the crucial role of intelligence services in this aspect. He emphasized the importance of raising awareness about the significance of efficient operation of the state security services among the youth; He also noted how important it is for Georgia, as a post-Soviet country, to implement reform in security services in compliance with the Euro-Atlantic standards.


Dr Florian Coldea's experience aroused great interest among the attendees, the discussions were followed by a vivid Q&A session during which the speaker answered the questions by bringing examples from his own professional practice.
